Managing Director

Kyle’s expertise lies in carbon accounting and the project development cycle. Prior to joining ecoPartners, he was a lead verifier of carbon offset projects, under multiple design standards, for an international certification company. His skill set of statistics, biometrics and forestry is essential to project development while his experience as an auditor provides valuable insight to the project validation process. Kyle holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Kyle previously worked as a resource supervisor for a large forest products company and with the State of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Maryland as a forester. He is a VCS approved expert in the areas of JNR, REDD and IFM, a CAR lead verifier and a Certified Forester. He holds professional memberships with the Society of American Foresters, American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the International Environmetrics Society.

  • Ph.D. Biometrics and Remote Sensing, Berkeley (2013)
  • M.A. Statistics, Berkeley (2011)
  • M.S. Forest Biometrics, Berkeley (2009)
  • B.S. Forestry, University of Minnesota (2002)

Director, Remote Sensing and GIS

Josh’s expertise is in applications of ecological monitoring and quantification. As Director of Remote Sensing his role with ecoPartners is to ensure effective project development and implementation with accurate and innovative methodologies based on the best possible science. Josh is also an expert in remote sensing, image analysis, geographic information systems, photogrammetry and computer programming.

Prior to ecoPartners, Josh was a Remote Sensing Scientist with the Yellowstone Ecological Research Center in Bozeman, Montana. He is currently finishing a PhD at University of California – Berkeley, Center for Ecosystem Measurement, Monitoring and Modeling. Josh’s research experience encompasses a broad range of disciplines, from Environmental Engineering to Climate Science. Projects include biomass estimation and extraction assessment for biofuels, developing methods for monitoring environmental change in protected areas, and developing near real-time data processing capabilities for applications in Climate Science. Josh holds memberships with the American Geophysical Union and American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

Senior Technical Advisor

Elliott’s interest in forest carbon offset projects began as an undergraduate student at Claremont McKenna College where he researched international climate change agreements and the emerging forest carbon market for his thesis. He then went on to coordinate the greenhouse gas program for a global environmental certification firm specializing in forest carbon offset verification. In this role, Elliott managed the quality assurance system as well as a network of international subcontract auditors. He also supported business development and assisted with forestry and carbon footprint audits. In addition to the field of forest carbon, he served as the Senior Manager for a mobile food start up and a public lands conservation crew leader.

Forest Carbon Works Coordinator

Mary graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science, and a minor in French Studies. With her university’s affiliation with the National Park Service, she researched the effects of Arroyo Willow growth on stream quality parameters affecting the spawning of Coho Salmon. Her primary interests include restoration ecology with a concentration on riparian and stream ecosystems as well as Geographical Information Systems. She speaks French and also has a great passion for learning about francophone cultures, especially those in Africa.

Senior Technical Advisor

Jonathan’s interests include land-use change impacts on climate and rural development, a topic he pursued at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies where he received a Master of Forestry degree. At Yale, Jonathan studied international forestry issues focusing on the use of payments for ecosystem services for reforestation projects, community forestry, and remote sensing/ mapping techniques. Prior to joining ecoPartners Jonathan was involved in managing reforestation projects in Nicaragua and South Africa that used carbon market finance as both a climate mitigation tool and a means of rural development. Jonathan previously worked as a crew member on 10,000+ acres of forestland in New England and where he contributed to the sustainable timber management of the property. In addition to his forestry experience, Jonathan brings several years of project management with international industries to build green supply chains.
